Integrity, Trust, and Reputation

Integrity is doing what you say you're going to do. There's profound power to honoring your commitments.

Start by honoring the commitments you've made to yourself. Schedule your commitments on your calendar. If you're struggling to honor your commitments, limit the items on your list. Instead of 15 things on one day, break it up into three items for five days in a row. This helps you honor your commitments and build momentum.

Nobody knows if you don't honor your commitments to yourself. Honoring the commitments you make to other people is the real test of your integrity. People violate this commitment in big and small ways every day. They don't finish a small task or send that follow up email.

Failure to honor commitments also leads to opportunity costs. When something doesn't get done on time, you not only lose time, but you potentially lose money.

But when you don't honor the commitments you've made to others, you lose credibility and trust. The more it happens, the less someone trusts you. Do what you say you're going to do and you'll enhance your reputation.
