The Compound Effect and Creative Work

When it comes to creative work , we overlook the compound effect. On day zero, you might have an audience of zero. On day one, you might have an audience of one. Because of the compound effect, on day 1000 you might have an audience of millions.

Life in the arts is not linear. With every piece of work, you plant seeds for your body of work. Your next blog post increases the traffic of your previous one, your next book increases sales of the previous one, and your next podcast increases downloads of the previous one. Life in the arts follows a long tail. It compounds. Your job is to do the work.
